Introducing Fish to your Baby - Food

If your baby has reached 1 year of age you have probably given him a variety of fruits, veggies, and meats, but not fish. Your doctor probably told you early on to stay away from fish if your baby is under one year. Fish is one of those no-no's before baby is one and that is why you don't see jarred fish foods in the commercial food aisles in the grocery stores.

The Nutritional Benefits of Eating Fish

If your baby is at least one year of age, it is safe to give your baby fish. Fish is highly nutritious because it contains the Omega-3 fatty acids that are important for brain development. That's why your mother told you to eat fish the night before a big exam to increase your brain power! Additionally, recent studies have shown that the Omega-3 fatty acids may reduce ADHD in children. Fish is also very high in protein and low in calories. Which is an excellent food choice.

What is Mercury and how will effect my child?

Many parents worry about the mercury levels that can be found in fish. For this reason, it is not recommended that fish be introduced to children under 1 year. What is Mercury? Mercury is a poisonous metal released in the air by industrial pollution which turns into methlymercury when it enters rivers and oceans. Methlymercury is found in the tissue and muscle of fish and can have damaging affects on young children and unborn children as well. Mercury affects the developing brain and nervous system. Babies who are exposed in utero may have trouble learning and concentration later in life.

How can you keep your child safe?

Young children and pregnant women should never eat swordfish, tilefish, king mackerel, or shark, which all have the highest levels of methylmercury. Canned tuna should also be limited to three 3 ounce servings of "chunk light" tuna per month.

What kinds of Fish to introduce?

The best kinds of fish to introduce to your baby are Cod, Flounder, Sole, and Haddock because they pose a low allergy risk and are the easy to digest. Beware of any kinds of fish that contain bones. It is extremely important to be sure the entire fish in bone free before serving it to your baby. The bones can get stuck in your child's throat and cause him to choke. As a young girl, I have learned from experience, trust me! Always discuss introducing fish with your pediatrician first.

Can Fish be Pureed?

Sure! Feel free to puree fish as you would any other food. It may not be baby's favorite so feel free to add vegetables and fruits to your fish purees for a less "fishy" taste.

A Mother's Solid Food Story - Family - Babies

My daughter was only out of the womb for an hour the first time she ate. Fortunately she had no problem latching on and started healthy eating habits from the get go. She was an average size baby, 7 pounds 6 ounces, by the time we brought her home she was 7 pounds. They told us that it was normal for babies to lose weight in the first few days and not to be concerned.

She continued to grow but her weight gain has been slow. When we went to her 4-month check-up the doctor advised that we should keep nursing her until six months, unless we felt she was not satisfied. At around 5 months, she seemed hungrier than normal and I didn't think I was producing enough milk for her, so I decided to try to give her some rice cereal.

While at her last doctor's appointment I read an article about homemade baby food, they said it was simple to make and better for the baby because it didn't have all of the preservatives that the jarred food had. I was inspired and purchased the supplies I would need to make my own. When it came time to make the rice cereal I took out my coffee grinder and threw in the brown rice. In the recipe they recommended making it in a pot on the stove and whisking for about 15 minutes. I decided that was unnecessary and threw it in the microwave which was a disaster. I could not get the cereal the right temperature, I must have tried 5 different ways and it still came out wrong.

My husband found my struggle very amusing and proceeded to laugh as I became more and more frustrated, I thought this was going to be simple. I finally got the rice to an amenable consistency only to realize I had no little bowls or kids' plates to put it in. A small glass would have to do for now. We began to feed her the cereal, she was not sure what to make of it and I don't think the sand like consistency was helping. She was making the most hilarious faces as my husband continued to shove bites that were 3 times bigger than they should be into her mouth. I wasn't sure about my decision; perhaps I had jumped the gun so I decided to wait a few days before trying the cereal again.

The next time I tried I had the same problem; the cereal was a wreck. I was a rice cereal chef failure. That afternoon I went to Target to get some things and decided to purchase some pre-made baby cereal. I was also able to pick up some baby bowls and spoons; I was armed and ready for our next attempt. I came home and whipped up some of the cereal. The box did not mention anything about heating up the cereal; simply add the desired liquid, stir and serve. Making this cereal was a breeze, no mess and no struggles with the temperature.

It was time for the final test; I put my little nugget in her seat and prepared her for dinner. Much to my surprise she loved it. She was so excited; she barely took time to swallow before opening her mouth for another bite. Perhaps I had been led astray in thinking it needed to be served warm; maybe I wasn't a cereal chef failure after all.

Some easy healthy recipes for child-friendly meals - Food

It can be a difficult task for many parents to get their children to eat healthy foods, especially if healthy foods were not introduced to them at a very young age or if they are simply averse to the taste of many vegetables but it is definitely possible to teach children and encourage them to eat healthy foods while at the same time explaining to them on their level why they need to eat these foods.

The best food for an infant is milk, whether this is breast milk or formula; this is the beginning of a child's healthy diet. As the child gets older they can then start to eat more solid foods and the first solid foods that you introduce to your child are very important because if you train a child to eat healthily then they will most likely continue to do so throughout their life.

Foods that are soft and easy to chew and swallow are the best solids to start your child on and this can include anything from pureed root vegetables and mashed potatoes, to soups and fruit compotes. Many mums and dads actually make their own baby food rather than buying jarred foods, which is easy because all you need to do is cook healthy foods and blend them into a smooth and easy to digest consistency; it almost always works out cheaper to make your own baby food too. Why not cook in batches and freeze portions? This way, your homemade baby food will be just as convenient as buying it ready made from the supermarket and you will know exactly what has gone into it.

Fruits are great for your child to eat as well and when they are first introduced to your children they will need to be mashed up for them to eat or cut into small pieces depending on how many teeth your child has. Once your child has been eating fruits and mushy foods for a few months you can then start your child on regular vegetables and cereals that don't contain a lot of added salt or sugar.

Some easy healthy recipes for your child could include whole wheat pasta with roasted vegetables and roasted chicken in a freshly made tomato sauce, homemade pizzas with plenty of vegetables and protein from good quality ham or chicken pieces and pan fried salmon fillets with sweet potato chips and a fresh green salad. All of this dishes can be made quickly and you will often be able to get your child involved in the preparations, which will teach them how to cook, what different foods are and the importance of making meals using fresh and delicious ingredients.

Go online to find that perfect salmon recipe for your child and why not browse the other easy healthy recipes on offer at the same time?

5 things your baby doesn't need - Family

5 things your baby doesn't need

Motherhood is complicated. There are so many questions to answer, and so many answers to question. There is nothing else in life that is simultaneously so frustrating and satisfying. I quickly learned that there is no better advice than from a woman going through the same things as you are at exactly the same time. My research has led me to the discovery that what I thought I would use as a mother, I didn't need. And what I didn't think I would want to use, has become indispensible. Here are few of the things that I have discovered do not live up to the hype.

Number 1: Expensive Toys Your baby doesn't need them. It doesn't matter if they are electronic, wooden, recycled, organic, or gold plated. For babies, simple is always better. If I had a nickel for every time my daughter went for the empty soda bottle instead of her talking, singing, light up teddy bear, I could retire a happy woman. The key for babies, especially young ones, is to give them a variety of small items with different textures. It may seem weird for me to admit, but when I noticed my daughter putting everything in her mouth, I started to do the same thing. A towel on your tongue feels vastly different than a plastic rattle, which feels completely different than a cloth book. I also take the toy or item and hit it on things to see what kind of noises it makes. Books that crinkle, plastic rings that are hollow, and a bottle with dried beans in it all make wonderful noises for baby to explore. No matter what impromptu toy you find for him or her, always make sure there are no small parts to swallow, that you have cleaned it if necessary, and that drool won't disintegrate it. Most importantly, never leave your baby unattended, because you never know.

Number 2: Expensive Diapers A lot of mothers would disagree with me on this one, but I stand fast. Truth be told, when my little one was born, I swore by the most popular and expensive brand (I think you know which one I am talking about). As she gets bigger it has become blatantly clear that the only way to prevent leaks and other unsightly messes is to change her regularly, and change her as soon as she has done her business. An even better choice is to use cloth. They are much more inexpensive than disposable, and are greener. You don't have to invest a lot in the premade, complicated diaper covers and cloth diaper systems that are on the market today. All you need are cloth diapers and rubber pants. It worked for our parents, why can't it work for us?

Number 3: A Closet Full of Clothes Let's be honest, every mom is guilty of wanting to fill her daughter's closet full of clothes. For our little men, those little trousers and baby suits are irresistible. The real truth is that you really don't need that much. Even if you have a closet full of clothes there will be a few select outfits that become your favorites. It could be because they are cute, they fit great, or they are easy to put on. Whatever the reason, you will repeatedly put it on him or her and the others will just sit on the hangers gathering dust. Get enough clothes to last a few days so that you aren't doing laundry every other day, and then spend the money you saved on the next size up. This kind of planning ahead can really abate the cost of clothing your child.

Number 4: A Premade Babysling If you are a slinging momma, you probably have learned the hard way that the sizing can be tricky, and changes as your baby grows. Don't drop $40 plus dollars every time you need a new one, instead make your own. All it takes is a quick trip to the fabric store and about 30 minutes of your time (if you are the world's most novice seamstress). Once the fabric is cut to size there are literally just two hems and a french seam to sew. There are patterns online that are absolutely free and can give you an idea of how to size the sling correctly. Easy and cheap; what could be better than that?

Number 5: Homemade Baby Food Makers Interested in making baby food yourself at home? Don't bother spending hundreds of dollars on the baby food making kits they sell at stores and online. All you need are a few things: a couple of covered ice cube trays, a steam basket, a mini food chopper, and some freezer bags. You can get all of those things at your local discount store for under $25. Add in some free recipes from the internet and viola, you have everything you need to make delicious baby food at a fraction of the cost.

Breakfasts Are An Important Meal

We have all heard the old saying that breakfasts are the most important meal of the day, and your Grandma was right. Breakfast, for most of us is the first meal of the day, and mornings are usually the most active time of the day. Whether you have eggs and bacon, or start your day with a healthy recipe, it is important to fuel your body so you have energy to face your day. If you fail to do so, you will find yourself not as alert as if you ate in the morning.

Many of us skip the first meal of the day for various reasons, either you do not have time or you think skipping breakfast will allow you to save some calories; whatever the reason, skipping it is a bad idea. There are many quick and healthy recipes you can use to start your day; a fruit smoothie made with yogurt is a healthy alternative, or an egg white omelet with some onions and peppers is tasty.

There are many fast food chains that offer breakfast; and going through the drive-thru saves time and effort, but these may not be the healthiest breakfast choices. Although many love a sausage and egg biscuit with hash browns, it is ok to splurge once and a while, especially when in a hurry.

Sometimes people get into a breakfast rut, and eat the same thing every day. For instance, some people eat a bowl of oatmeal and a glass of milk every morning in the winter and a carton of yogurt and a glass of milk in the summer. Some people just know what they like, I guess.

Weekends are a great time to have a family breakfast; families sometimes love to have brunch around lunchtime on Saturday or Sunday. Everyone gathers in the kitchen or at a restaurant, ordering pancakes or waffles and bacon with cheesy scrambled eggs; or sometimes homemade biscuits and country ham.

Sometimes it is fun to go out to breakfast with friends, but not a fast food breakfast. Try to have breakfast with my friends every couple of months, go to a nice restaurant and splurge; eggs benedicts or eggs Florentine and mimosas. You can get a chance to catch up, and enjoy a meal you do not have to cook.

There are some quick and easy recipes you can give the kids as they head out the door to the school bus; this could be as easy as making peanut butter on toast or buttered toast. Many kids are slow getting ready for school so sitting at the table is not plausible. Taking something in the car and eating on the way may be your best bet.

Whatever you choose for breakfast, just remember it is an important meal. It is what gives us the energy to face our day; so we can meet our challenges with a smile. There are many easy and healthy recipes out there for unique breakfasts that will tempt even the fussiest of eaters.

SEO Tips For Internet Marketing Newbies - Internet

Not that long ago I started to seriously study Internet marketing and learn the basics. Internet marketing newbies usually get sidetracked with the abundance of information that's out there. After going through many hours of jumping from one marketing principal to some new tactic to a new product that will automate everything... blah blah blah, I stopped, gathered my thoughts and started to focus.

The following are just a few Seo Tips that I have learned that will help those of you who are internet marketing newbies.

1. When setting up website to showcase your product or a product you're promoting, it is imperative to have your best keyword in your domain name. Assuming you are just starting out in your business and you are in the restaurant business and you specialize in Italian food, This is an example for your domain name. Angiesitaliancuisine dot com. Having the word italian as part of the domain name give you an advantage over other restaurants that don't include italian in the name. What ever your specialty, include your most focused keyword in the domain. When someone searches for Italian restaurants your domain will more likely have a better ranking than if your domain was Angiescuisine.

2. In the title page or header on your website or blog is another key location for your most focused keyword. Example: Angies Famous Homemade Italian Cuisine. This would be a nice title page that includes your keyword Italian, along with other good keywords.

3. In our example you would want to include these words in your keyword list on your site: Italian food, italian cuisine, homemade italian food, italian restaurant, homemade italian restaurant and other combinations also. Whatever search terms the average person would type in to find your business should be in the list.

4. If you are using a blog format, you should use your most popular keywords in your content. If you are writing about Italian food,as in our example above, use of your keywords should come in naturally. Don't over do the use of your keywords when writing articles or posts. Just write naturally using your best words and phrases.

5. Links used in your website are also key to helping search engines notice your site. If you are sharing a recipe as a blog post as in our example above, use your keywords as link text. Link text are the words that are usually blue that link to another place. Let's say your recipe is for Chicken Parmigianna and in your post about the the chicken parm recipe you say "Chicken Parmigianna is one of everyones favorites when it comes to Italian Cuisine...... " In this example you would create a text link for the phrase "Italian Cuisine". When you do this you can have the link(Italian Cuisine) go to a specific page on your site to interlink to your own site. Another option is you could send your readers to another website that may sell a cook book on "Italian Cuisine" or even better send then to another page on your site that sells your cook book on "Italian Cuisine".

6. I hope these few tidbits helped you understand the importance of keywords and where you should focus your attention. I also hope that all this talk of Italian Cuisine made you as hungry as I am.

This one needs prep time, but offers you a real break on a day to day basis. We do this about five or six times a year. We cook for a whole month a one time. Everything goes in the freezer. When we are done, there are 30 dinners in the freezer. It takes two days to get it all done, but for a month, dinner is on the table about 20 minutes after we get home. Galbi Gui ? Korean Bbq Beef Short Ribs

Galbi, or kalbi generally refers to a variety of gui or grilled dish in Korean cuisine that is made with marinated beef, or pork, short ribs in a ganjang-based sauce, that is also more widely known in Western culture as Korean soy sauce.

Appetizing and delicious, Galbi Gui, is Korean BBQ food at it's best and very popular in the United States. The dish also represents a very accessible way to enter the World of Korean cuisine, as some of it's textures and flavours will be familiar with many of whom who try it for the very first time.

Galbi Gui is well known for it's succulence and subtle balance of flavours which make it an ideal dish to serve as part of a main course, or as part of a buffet at a gathering.

Ingredients: 16 ribs

1 cup soy sauce, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water
1 Asian pear, chopped or 1/2 Korean pear
1 onion, chopped
2 tbls. minced garlic
4 tbls. sesame oil
1 tbls. ground pepper
1 tbls. juice of ginger

There are two types of cut of beef ribs that you should obtain from a Korean market if possible, one type is where the rib is wrapped with thinly sliced meat with one side attached to a bone and the other is a third to a quarter of an inch thick piece of meat that is sliced across the bone, so 3-4 bones are in one piece.

Pear acts as a tenderiser and also adds flavour. The best is Korean pear which contains more water and sweet flavour, has a soft texture and it is almost as large as a cantaloupe. If you can't obtain any Korean pear, you can use Kiwi as a substitute albeit using a smaller quantity.

First of all wash all of the meat thoroughly and remove any bone scraps that you find stuck to the meat. These bone scraps appear quite rarely, but take the time to have a good look for them and remove any that are present.

Once washed and cleaned, soak the beef ribs in water for an hour, and then drain.

Blend together the chopped onion and pear, and puree in a food processor, then pour the mixture out into a large bowl, adding the remaining ingredients, stirring thoroughly until combined.

Marinate the beef ribs for 12 hours or overnight, leaving covered in the refridgerator. As with all red meats, the longer you leave it to marinade the better, as this will allow the meat fibres to break down slightly, making the meat more succulent and flavoursome.

Remember that beef ribs usually cook fairly fast, 2-3 minutes on one side, so take great care not to overcook them on your grill.

Traditionally, Galbi Gui is grilled using wood charcoal though it can be cooked just as well on a conventional outdoor charcoal or gas BBQ grill.

Our diminuative Weber One Touch kettles do the job just great, so you don't need an all singing or dancing grill to make superb tasting Galbi Gui.

What is Korean Gui?

Gui or guee (ku:i) is a generic term to refer to grilled dishes in Korean cuisine.
These most commonly have meat or fish as their primary ingredient, but may in some cases also comprise grilled vegetables or other vegetarian ingredients.

Korean Meat-based grilled dishes are collectively called gogi gui, Gui made with pig or cow's intestines is collectively called naejang gui or yang gui, Gui made with pig or cow's intestines is collectively called naejang gui or yang gui.

Munich Germany 10 Insider Tips

Munich Germany is a city in the state Bavaria. Would you like to know what the real interesting sights in Munich Germany are? I will tell you 12 of my good ones.

If you would like to know something about the city and its history, visit my website for information about that. In this article I will let you know of 12 insider tips of this German city - short and sweet - so that you can print them out and easily scour the sights.

First, once you arrive in the city, go to the tourist information office. It is located at Munich Germany main station (outside) or at Marienplatz (downtown).

Also, since you already know that this city is venue of the well-known Oktoberfest, there is actually no need for me to tell you anything about that, right?

Now, shall we get started? Great! :-)

TOP 10 Bars and Restaurants

1. An absolute must-see and must-experience is the "Hundskugel" (Dogs Ball) located in Hotterstrasse in old town. This is Munich's oldest house which has the perfect ambience for original Bavarian food (e.g. "Schweinshaxe" -- knuckle of pork). Quite frankly, once you were here, your friends will become envious you were there without them.

2. The "Schuhbecks in den Suedtiroler Stuben" (Schubecks in the South Tyrol Rooms) is a tavern with notable factor. They serve original Bavarian cuisine in high quality. It is located at "Platzl" in old town.

3. Another excellent restaurant with original Bavarian cuisine is "Gasthaus Beim Sedlmayr" (Tavern by Sedlmayr). The funny and happy waiters make your time even more glamorous and jollier. Their menu has "all you ever need" once you are in Munich.

4. The "Haxnbauer im Scholastikahaus" (sorry, I'm not able to translate that yet...;-), located next to Marienplatz in Sparkassenstrasse, inspires visitors to stay longer than they might want once they enter. It's just amazing, old woody walls and tables, smelling beer and meat, just unforgettable.

5. If you are looking for a chance to see famous football stars and actors, you have to go to the noble P1. I must admit it is not easy to enter this exceptional bar, but definitely worth more than one try. You will find it in Prinzregentenstrasse. The location is, however, quite hidden. Only a small sign beside stairs refers to the legendary club discotheque. Tip: It might be a bit easier if you go in as a couple.

Sightseeing and culture

6. Stroll along Ludwigstrasse. Ludwig I. underlined the royal Munich with this classicistic boulevard. As a road of sciences, the Ludwigstrasse (Ludwigstreet) is one of the most monumental and most generous roads created in the 19th century. The monument of king Ludwig I on Odeonsplatz, created by Max Widmann, reminds of the owners and name giver who had to withdraw in 1848 after the Lola Montez affair.

7. The Maximilianstrasse (Maximilian Street) spreads still old flair while strolling through this historical street. With museums and theatres, galleries and numerous exclusive shops, this splendour road certainly belongs to the most distinguished addresses of Munich Germany.

8. Are you art and historical interested? Then walk along the Prinzregentenstrasse (Prince Regent Road). It is considered as museum mile. Prince Regent Luitpold let put on this avenue road at the end of the 19th century.

9. The Englischer Garten (English Gardens) is Munich Germany's famous 900-acre park. It is actually starting in the heart of the city and transitioning into the countryside. The park offers shaded paths for walking and cycling in summer and picturesque frozen lakes in winter. In addition, it contains four beer gardens (Chinesischer Turm, Seehaus, Hirschau, Aumeister), whose invite to stay long after sunset.

10. Marienplatz is world-wide well-known with the "new" Neo-Gothic City Hall and its "Gingle Bells" sounds. Acutally a huge square with some interesting taverns. Visit /munich.html for additional information and images.

By the way, from Munich Germany's main station, it is a quite short way to downtown and old town -- just a few minutes walk.

Enjoy your trip!

All the best,

Fast food can be healthy food - Society

The key to creating quick healthy recipes is choosing simple and fresh ingredients which are full of vitamins, minerals and key nutrients to keep your body happy and healthy. Healthy recipes don't have to be boring, bland and tasteless and they don't have to consist of a variety of salad leaves, in fact if you take some of your favourite foods and substitute some of the ingredients you'll be surprised how naughty food can turn nice without losing its taste and flavour.

Take your traditional lasagne recipe for example, heaps of red meat, bchamel sauce, cheese and pasta doesn't make for the healthiest of meals but that doesn't mean you have to cut it out of your diet, instead you can make a quirky yet delicious version of it which will give you three of your five a day and a hearty winter warmer. Simply replace the minced lamb or beef with ham and roasted vegetables and serve with a crunchy side salad rather than calorific garlic bread. Roughly chop your favourite vegetables into large chunks, courgettes, peppers, carrots and butternut squash all work really work and coat lightly in vegetable oil before seasoning.

Place the vegetables in a pre-heated oven for around half an hour before removing and added in chopped ham; this mixture will form the 'meaty' part of your healthy lasagne recipe. Next make a low fat cheese sauce using skimmed milk, low fat cheese, butter and plain flour and while this is cooking, steam some spinach over a pan of boiling water or in the microwave. Assemble the lasagne in layers as usual and bake in the oven until the low fat cheese topping is golden brown and bubbling.

This same principle can be applied to other firm favourites, from pasta dishes such as spaghetti carbonara and beefburgers to a classic jambalaya and fishcakes. Find out which main ingredient is the least healthy in your favourite dish and if possible substitute this for a healthier alternative, keeping in mind that meats such as chicken, turkey and pork tend to be healthier and lower in cholesterol than red meats such as beef and lamb. So if you love to tuck into a good burger complete with all the trimmings, try turkey or chicken burgers instead of beefburgers, this way not only do you avoid fatty meats but you are also less likely to add cheese to your burger.

It's official, fast food can be healthy food and there are such things as quick healthy recipes which are perfect for mid week dinners and during the school holidays.

Search online for a great selection of quick healthy recipes or simply try this great lasagne recipe if you're pushed for time.

Incredible India With Incomparable Diversity in North Indian Recipes and That From The Southern Part - Food

Incredible India is a land of diversified regions and people. The moment you change your location you will find a new community with a new cuisine and with a new eating habit. It is really difficult to say which person will prefer which diet. We follow four directions east, west, north and south. It is really amazing to note here that each location is famous for its own recipes. The tastes vary from region to region because taste is directly proportional to the taste of the people. For example, people residing in northern region like more spicy food where as South Indian rely on tangy ones. Every region has a minute difference but yes it is noticeable. The taste also depends upon the temperature and the climatic condition of a particular region. As per the climatic conditions the recipes keeps on changing with the availability of vegetables as well as the spices those are common.

In case of south Indian recipes the major chunk lies with Sambhar. The recipes consist of Idli, Dosa, Vada and Sambhar. The south recipes also focus on Rice. These recipes also use a lot of red chilies. The advantage of the south recipes is that it is light and delicious, but yes it's a pure traditional recipe especially made to satisfy the taste of people residing in southern parts. There are many food items under south Indian recipes that are common like Sambhar. Even south Indian people eat rice with Sambhar.

If we take the case of north Indian recipes they are totally opposite .The taste buds are different and a lot of spicy food is preferred under the cuisines. In north recipes oil, chillies, green chillies, tomatos all are used and one of the most important ingredient is the onion. This Onion changes the taste of the north Indian cuisine and also adds spice to it. Since northern India is more diverse so this north Indian cuisine contains varieties of dishes which are liked by majority of population. This is the most widely accepted cuisine and is appreciated by all the food lovers, even across globe. The north Indian recipes majorly cover the north side of India and its nearby areas.

One of the other cuisines is the Andhra recipes, basically focusing on people residing in the Andhra region. These recipes are the spiciest of all foods with its unique taste, appeal and texture. In Andhra recipes there is tremendous use of chilli powder, oil and the famous tamarind. Andhra cuisines give you numerous amounts of varieties and are majorly based on lentil and vegetables. Hyderabad its neighboring region has its own unique characteristics and Hyderabadi biryani is relished by all.

All recipes, whether south India recipes, north India recipes or Andhra recipes, are having importance all across the globe as well as specially appraised in their own region. But one very important fact is that none can be isolated from use of varieties of herbs and spices which a common thing among Indian recipes. Somewhere down the line one cuisine is dependent or connected with the other. Even diversification can be better dealt if we appreciate the tastes of different areas.

Cooking healthy isn't an overnight change; it is a lifestyle change that should be implemented one step at a time. The healthier your meals, the more likely your whole family are to maintain ahealthy body weight.

Homemade Pizza - Pizza Crust Video - Food

When we think of pizza, most Americans think cheese and pepperoni. Of course there are many popular toppings that branch out from these staples, but in general, we tend not to stray too far from the occasional artichoke heart or sundried tomato.

But think about it... pizza crust is just a simple flatbread. Flatbreads are a staple food all over the world and are eaten with all kinds of traditional ethnic foods, such as Indian curries, peppery African stews, Moroccan harissas, and even with a simple South American breakfast. For these folks, flatbreads are used in the same way that Westerners use forks. So why not make a pizza out of it?

Since the vast majority of Western kids have a positive association with pizza, "making a pizza out of it" is a fabulous way to introduce young children to new and exotic flavors. Not only will the pizza LOOK appealing, the bread will act to soften strong, ethnic spices that may be foreign to the uninitiated palatte. Cheese, of course, can also help soften the blow.

A pizza doesn't have to have cheese on it to make it a "real" pizza, though. Cheeseless pizzas aren't just for vegans and lactose intolerants. My personal favorite is a simple cheeseless pizza loaded instead with pesto, caramelized onions and walnuts (see recipe below). It can be topped with just a dot of feta for the occasional burst of flavor, but cheese is not the highlight of the pizza, as it would be for nearly all American-style pizzas.

Here are just a few creative examples of what can be done for healthier, ethnic or cheeseless pizzas:

Thai PizzaBase: Thai peanut sauceToppings: shredded Napa cabbage and carrots, marinated baked tofu, splash of soy sauce and lime juice, chopped peanutsHerbs: minced garlic and ginger, fresh cilantro and Thai basil

Fajita PizzaBase: refried beans, olive oilToppings: fajita-style vegetables or meats, quacamole, sour cream, splash of lime juiceHerbs: minced garlic, fresh cilantro

Polish PizzaBase: saurkrautToppings: Polish sausage (or veggie sausage), onion, green pepper, olive oilHerbs: minced garlic, caraway seeds

Curry PizzaBase: saag paneer (pureed spinach with cheese)Toppings: chicken or vegetable curry, cashewsHerbs: minced garlic and ginger, fresh cilantro

MAKING PIZZA AT HOME

Isn't pizza dough hard to make, though?

Actually, no; quite the contrary. Making good crust isn't nearly as much of an art as making good bread. Many people see 'yeast' in the ingredients list and get scared. They think, "Uh oh! I'll have to knead it, and rise it, and shape it and bake it." Yes, but it needs only a few minutes of kneading, and the rising happens by itself. Shaping takes all of a minute and most pizzas only need 12-15 minutes in the oven. The only time-consuming part is waiting for the dough to rise, which happens in about an hour.

It's also cost efficient to make a homemade crust; all that is needed is some flour and water, a packet of yeast, salt, sugar and a touch of olive oil.

Homemade Pizza Crust Video3-In-1 Homemade Pizza Crust Recipe

With the right equipment, making pizza at home is fun, fast and friendly. Here are two inexpensive items recommended for homemade crusts that brown evenly and stay light and airy on the inside:

Pizza Stone - A pizza stone is a slab of stone used for baking pizzas and other flatbreads. A pizza stone is the next best thing to a wood-fired brick oven. It helps distribute heat evenly to the bottom and top of the crust, ensuring a perfectly crispy crust that's soft on the inside.

Since it is made of stone, it should be placed in a cool oven and preheated with the oven so that it doesn't crack from the rapid change of temperature. Once preheated, the stone will evenly transfer the heat to the crust. The raw pizza crust is then placed directly onto the stone, without having to remove the stone from the oven.

If you don't have a stone, you can use a pizza pan or the back of a sheet pan for baking pizza. The crust can be shaped right on top of either of these, as these pans do not need to be preheated.

Pizza Peel - This baking shovel has a long handle to keep your hands safe while transporting your pizza to and from the oven. It is a large, thin, wooden or metal spatula that slides the pizza quickly and easily to the pizza stone in the hot oven. The crust can be made directly on top of the pizza peel and then transported to the hot stone.

To help with ease of transport, cornmeal is usually sprinkled on the surface of the shovel before preparing the crust. But wait... move over Mama Mia, a piece of parchment paper on top of the peel works even better! Shape the crust on top of the parchment, then slide the pizza, along with the parchment, onto the pizza stone in the hot oven. The parchment goes right into the oven and easily slides from the pizza peel to the stone. No more smooshed pizzas!

If you don't have a pizza peel, use the back side of a sheet pan with the parchment. The crust will slide right off.

Baby Shower Recipes: Food Ideas For Your Shower - Family

Baby showers are generally held in the later stages of pregnancy (in the last 2 months, for instance). There are, however, certain cultural beliefs that make people purposefully wait for the baby to arrive before having a baby shower. Adoptive parents, at times, wait until after the adoption is final and the baby has arrived in their home.

Baby showers are generally organized by close friends, relatives, or co-workers of the expectant parents (because baby showers center on gift-giving, it is considered inappropriate for a family member to host such events).

In its early form, baby showers were held exclusively for mothers-to-be, and only women were invited to attend the party. In addition, baby showers were traditionally held only for the first child.
